About the Finance Team

The Thumbtack Finance team’s mission is to be a strategic finance partner to the business to enable better business decisions that are supported by data while building a world class finance function and to do it all with integrity. 

About the Role

As the finance business partner to the Chief Commercial Officer, your C-suite partner will view you as a trusted advisor and value your expertise and help in managing resources and growing the business to achieve company goals. This is a highly visible role that supports the Commercial organization including Partnerships, Business Development, Sales, Service and Operations teams. 

You will provide end to end finance support including analyzing market opportunities, contracts, building financial models, and delivering insights to drive informed business decisions across pricing, customer acquisition, and market expansion strategies. You are a key cross functional lead and part of the Commercial leadership team delivering on company wide growth initiatives.

You are instrumental in optimizing go-to-market, sales and revenue generating initiatives, evaluating performance, and enabling data-driven decision-making. You will work with Partnerships/ Business Development, Sales, Service and Operations to provide decision support for how sales and partnership decisions impact the P&L.

 Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and strategic recommendations to influence our commercial leaders on financial strategies, investments,  incentive compensation design & implementation, and resource allocation decisions, leveraging an in-depth understanding of market dynamics and the company's financials
  • Lead deal desk support for strategic opportunities, focusing on revenue optimization and profitability analysis
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across BD, Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure alignment between financial planning and commercial objectives
  • Support the business in planning and develop team targets and OKRs 
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and insightful financial analyses and forecasts, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities relating to the company's go-to-market strategy to stakeholders and executives
  • Create effective dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards to track our operational and financial metrics relating to our go-to-market activities. Analyze and synthesize financial results and communicate key messages to internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with Sales and Product to assess the impact of incentives, promotions and pricing changes on revenue

What you’ll need

  • 8+ years of FP&A experience, including supporting Business Development/ New Vventure /Partnership teams
  • Experience with C-level influence and upward management, ideally having worked closely with CFO and CCO/COO/CBO/GM-President roles. Ability to take initiative and have a strong sense of ownership over shaping and executing upon our strategy 
  • Experience setting up and providing finance support including Partnerships contracts, pricing, planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Possess operational finance expertise working with Sales organizations, incl goal/quota setting, ROI establishment & attainment and incentives
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, using key tools within Excel and G-Suite. Ability to provide insights, quickly iterate and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience working with Sales and Service field operations on workforce management, cost ratios etc. 
  • Experience working in Investment Banking or Management consulting
  • Experience working for a consumer tech company, marketplace a plus 
  • Experience within a public company environment

For candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $237,600 - $290,400. 

For candidates living in Austin, TX or Washington DC metros or in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Washington states, the expected salary range for the role is currently $213,800 - $261,400. 

For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $202,000 - $246,800. Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
