Why this Role Exists

As the Director, Business Development, you will serve as the primary customer-facing team member focused on driving sales pipeline growth and the closing of new business. The role is critical for driving growth and forging strategic partnerships effectively contributing to the organization's growth and success.

You will lead development of market research within your territory, identifying ongoing and planned clinical trials which benefit from Profound’s access to patients and our physician partner capabilities and expertise.

You will manage interactions with sponsors and CROs addressing various legal, feasibility, budgetary, and proposals as necessary to progress deals through the sales process. The role may also represent the Commercial team by attending and, or supporting industry conferences and meetings.

This role will achieve success through effective identification of market opportunity, constructive engagement with key sponsor and CRO stakeholders, and efficient collaboration with Profound feasibility, operational, proposal, and budget team members.


Responsibilities

·       Identification of key sponsor and CRO stakeholders overseeing studies and programs which align with Profound capabilities.

·       Overseeing the sales process to ensure timelines and sponsor/CRO expectations are met or exceeded

·       Track sales activities, communication, and status within Profound’s CRM, following approved processes

·       Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new business opportunities.

·       Develop and implement business development strategies to drive growth and achieve revenue targets.

·       Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry influencers.

·       Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior management.

Requirements

·       years of experience in sales and/or sales support

·       Typically 5+ years of experience in clinical research or related field

·       Typically 5+ years of experience using CRMs such as SalesForce

·       Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biology, chemistry or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications

·       Understanding of clinical trial conduct and/or patient recruitment

·       Understanding of pharmaceutical purchasing processes associated with clinical operations and recruitment

·       Utilization of CRM system to produce reports which highlight commercial pipeline, sales, and activities for clinical trial execution

·       Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment, with a willingness to adapt to changing business needs.

·       Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.

·       Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to identify market opportunities and develop business strategies.

·       Deep understanding of the life sciences market, including trends, key players, and regulatory environment.

·       Excellent networking skills with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, including clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.

·       Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.

 

Travel Requirements

·       This role will be remote or office based as able. 30% travel.

Physical Requirements 

 

·       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing and walking. 

·     Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.

·     Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. 

·     Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound. 

·     The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
