Pinterest brings millions of people across the globe the inspiration to create a life they love. We’re looking for an experienced compliance professional to join our compliance team. As an integrated part of our legal department, you will work closely with our legal, regulatory compliance and risk teams to sustain Pinterest’s strong ethical culture and to help us proactively manage compliance risks and ensure we operate consistently with our company values. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Head of Privacy, Compliance, Ethics and Risk.


What you’ll do:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to the business on global laws and regulations including, but not limited to, bribery and corruption, economic sanctions, export controls and international trade, and third-party risk management.
  • Provide guidance and support for the development and execution of the Ethics and Corporate Compliance program’s global strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Build, cultivate, and drive a strong culture of high ethical standards of conduct as an organization, including developing and leveraging a network of risk and compliance champions across the business.
  • Manage and enhance an internal investigations program, including overseeing the administration of the company’s hotline and case management system, conduct complex investigations, and ensure investigations are conducted consistently and effectively resulting in organizational justice.  
  • Manage a crisis management and enterprise risk management program, working closely with other risk and assurance functions, such as HR, Internal Audit, Legal, Finance, and Information Security, to ensure effectiveness of the company’s broader risk and compliance programs.
  • Lead development and execution of the compliance training, awareness and communication strategies, including global trainings addressing Code of Conduct, data privacy, discrimination and harassment, conflicts of interest, anti-bribery, and gifts and hospitality.
  • Oversee the ethics and compliance risk framework and lead the execution of ongoing risk assessment and monitoring activities.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of compliance related policy development and implementation, including the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics.
  • Develop and continuously improve compliance controls and programmatic solutions in the areas of ethics, code of conduct, conflicts of interest, anti-corruption/anti-bribery, third party risk management, and economic sanctions and global trade.
  • Manage investigators and risk and compliance professionals to scale the function.
  • Develop robust metrics dashboarding, reporting and documentation for senior leaders and Board members
  • Provide thought leadership and tactical support in the development and launch of a Privacy Compliance program, ensuring a cohesive governance, risk and compliance operating model. 

What we’re looking for:

  • Juris Doctor degree required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate/in-house ethics and legal compliance environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, support, and continuously improve a risk-based global ethics and compliance function, including experience in developing a culture of ethics and organizational justice, conducting complex investigations, and developing a global ethics and compliance strategy.
  • Knowledge of global privacy laws, experience with building a privacy compliance program, and ability to help design and scale a compliance function highly desired.
  • Strong player-coach approach and mentality.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong project management skills, with the ability to build and scale programs.
  • Ability to work autonomously, issue spot and provide incisive legal and business-focused solutions.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Strong decision quality and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic orientation. Ability to balance strategic and tactical issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership talent, with the ability to motivate and influence others, excellent judgment, agility, flexibility and personal integrity.

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
