F5 is seeking a strategic and innovative social media expert to lead our global social media efforts. This senior leader will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, data-driven strategy that elevates F5's brand, drives engagement across platforms, and creates meaningful connections with our customers, partners, and industry influencers.

This role reports to the RVP of Corporate Communications and serves as a key leader in the Corporate Communications team. The ideal candidate combines deep platform expertise with strong analytical skills and exceptional storytelling abilities to drive measurable business outcomes through strategic social media initiatives. This role requires the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, a flexible, results-driven approach to problem-solving, and exceptional leadership skills to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Global Social Media Strategy: Develop and execute a data-driven, multi-platform strategy to optimize engagement and grow followers while supporting F5’s brand positioning, product launches, and thought leadership initiatives. Identify and leverage emerging social media trends and technologies to enhance F5’s online presence.
  • Social Media Execution: Oversee day-to-day social media operations, ensuring consistent and high-quality content that aligns with F5’s purpose and business strategy. Regularly review and update social media policy, guidelines and best practices.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a global team of social media professionals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on social media initiatives. Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors.
  • Content Creation and Curation: Oversee the creation of compelling and relevant social media content, including text, images, videos, and interactive media. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and curate content that aligns with key messaging and campaigns. Ensure brand consistency and adherence to social media guidelines across all channels.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze social media performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and identify areas for improvement. Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate social media performance to stakeholders. Utilize social listening tools to monitor brand sentiment, identify emerging issues and improve social media strategies.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the global social media budget, ensuring resources are distributed effectively across priority GTM initiatives. Track spending, measure ROI, and refine strategies to maximize impact.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven track record of scaling social media programs that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of LinkedIn, X, Meta, YouTube and other emerging platforms with the ability to apply platform-specific strategies effectively.
  • Deep knowledge of the global social media landscape and regional nuances, particularly in North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and LATAM.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in performance tracking, reporting, and optimization to demonstrate ROI and business impact.
  • Exceptional storytelling, content creation, and copywriting skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling copy in the distinct style of our leaders, brand voice, and employee advocates.
  • Outstanding communication skills—in person and in writing—that inspire confidence and followership of diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage agencies, vendors, and internal cross-functional teams effectively across global markets.
  • Comfort in ambiguity with a willingness to be entrepreneurial in thinking—balancing big picture strategy with attention to detail.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business goals to social media strategies and tactics.
  • Ability to engage with and counsel senior-level decision-makers across F5 and offer insight into the effective use of social media.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Business or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in enterprise technology and/or cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience in B2B social media and influencer marketing, preferably in AI, cybersecurity, or enterprise technology.
  • The candidate must be a proven communicator with a successful track record in the technology market.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.  Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 10% of the time spent traveling.

The annual base pay for this position is: $185,351.00 - $278,027.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
