Destructoid: Listicle Writers for Nostalgia Entertainment Content
Destructoid is looking for new and experienced writers to help build the site's Entertainment Listicle coverage. This is a fully remote contract position. This position specifically involves crafting listicles centered around Nostalgia, or Retro, ideas within Video Games, Movies, TV, and Books. We aim to celebrate the entertainment that shaped us into the enthusiast nerds we are today.
Destructoid is a place for passionate gamers to find engaging articles & information about their favorite franchises written by other passionate gamers.
Only complete applications with two writing samples will be considered. This is not a video-based or creative writing position, so please do not submit those as writing samples.
Responsibilities:
- Research nostalgia pop. culture from the '80s, '90s, '00s, and pitch Top 10's and Ranked list stories
- Submit relevant Listicles on time under deadline
- Communicate actively with the Editorial Team
Requirements:
- Excellent English language writing skills.
- Strong ability to pitch story ideas.
- Eagerness to learn and incorporate feedback.
- Must be a self-starter who can complete pieces on time and pitch trending ideas.
- A strong knowledge of nerd culture, past and present.

- Two clips that demonstrate your ability to write on the aforementioned subjects.
- Unpublished or self-published writing is OK!
Interview Process:
- Resume and Application Questionnaire review
- Written Sample Test
- Interview with the Hiring Manager or Managing Editor
Pay range: $15 to $75 USD per article, depending on length & type. Rates may differ for international candidates based on location.
