Our Mission as Expedia Group’s Customer Data Platform team is to build the travel industry's premier Customer Data Platform to delight the users' trips experiences through identification, personalization, AI, recommendations, and targeted marketing. We are looking for a Data Engineer with experience in building data products and applications, who can craft, develop, and own the next generation of scalable real-time customer data products and services. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Design, build, and support scalable and durable data solutions that can enable self-service consumption use cases using cloud-based technologies in an agile manner 

  • Work with a team of backend and data engineers to build large scale real-time data pipelines, microservices and APIs on the AWS platform 

  • Write clean, efficient, and thoroughly tested code and be accountable for individual tasks and assignments and your team's overall productivity 

  • Define, develop, and maintain artifacts like technical design or user documentation and look for continuous improvement in software and development process  

  • Communicate and work effectively with geographically distributed multi-functional teams 

  • Promote good development methodologies via code reviews, great software design, or tech talks 

 

Experience and qualifications:  

  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience 

  • 2+ years of experience in at least one major language (e.g., Java, Scala, Python) and SQL (any variant) 

  • 2+ years of experience in distributed systems and have experience with different distributed processing frameworks both in batch and real-time e.g., Flink, Spark, etc 

  • 2+ years of experienced in building and maintaining sophisticated ETL pipeline/data products in cloud architectures like AWS, Azure etc 

  • Nice to have experience in Apache Kafka, Splunk, Datadog 

  • Nice to have experience in NoSQL and SQL Databases including MongoDB or Elastic Search 

 

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
