The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect MetrumRG’s systems, networks, and data. Working closely with our vCISO and internal IT/engineering teams, you will take the lead in operational security tasks, threat detection, and remediation efforts. This role contributes to safeguarding our infrastructure, customer data, and operations against evolving cyber threats.
**Please note: AWS certification is required for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage cybersecurity controls within AWS environments.
- Implement and manage secure configurations and settings on user endpoints
- Review and assist with identity management, provisioning, and decommissioning
- Monitor, evaluate, and measure the effectiveness of security controls enterprise-wide.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in remediation of identified security gaps promptly.
- Support security audits, compliance initiatives, and incident response activities.
- Collaborate with development and IT teams to implement secure coding practices and infrastructure security.
- Assist with compliance initiatives such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 or other relevant frameworks.
- Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
- Provide cybersecurity guidance and assistance to internal teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, specifically in engineering and operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- AWS certification required.
- Demonstrated expertise in AWS services, architectures, and security features (VPC, IAM, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Security Hub, etc.).
- Proficiency in implementing and managing cybersecurity frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls, CSA STAR, etc).
- Experience with security tools and vulnerability management platforms.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, encryption methods, and identity/access management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Linux administration is a plus.
- Experience supporting cybersecurity in healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (SOC 2, FDA regulations, ISO 27001).
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex cybersecurity concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Physical Demands
The job frequently requires working at a computer terminal, standing or sitting, and the ability to operate the computer with proficiency.
