Job Summary

The Competitive Intelligence (CI) Manager will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating actionable insights about the competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making. This role is pivotal for a B2B company seeking to maintain a competitive edge by understanding market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to communicate complex insights effectively across various teams.

Key Responsibilities

Competitive Research & Analysis

  • Conduct ongoing research on key competitors, market trends, and industry developments.

  • Build and maintain a competitor intelligence repository, including detailed profiles on competitors’ strategies, offerings, and performance.

  • Identify and track key competitive threats and opportunities, ensuring the company stays ahead of market dynamics.

Strategic Insights Development

  • Synthesize data into actionable insights and recommendations for product development, sales strategies, and marketing campaigns.

  • Provide executive leadership with regular updates and analysis on competitor movements and market shifts.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align insights with organizational goals.

Data Collection & Tools Management

  • Utilize CI tools and software (e.g., Crayon, Klue, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Clozd, Newslever) to automate data collection and analysis. Manage vendors providing competitive intelligence tools. Manage input coming from the sales team. 

  • Leverage publicly available sources, industry reports, and customer feedback to enrich intelligence reports.

  • Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and confidentiality when gathering competitive information.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales, product management, and marketing teams to understand intelligence needs and tailor insights accordingly.

  • Support the sales team by providing competitor battle cards, pricing comparisons, and objection-handling strategies.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for internal teams on competitive intelligence practices.

Reporting & Presentation

  • Create clear, concise, and visually compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations.

  • Deliver intelligence briefings and facilitate workshops to foster strategic discussions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market research, strategy, or a related role, preferably within a B2B environment.

  • Proven track record of delivering actionable insights that drive strategic outcomes.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present clear insights.

  • Proficiency in CI tools, data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and CRM platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on storytelling and strategic thinking.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Deep understanding of B2B sales cycles and industry-specific dynamics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Healthcare, Pharmaceutical Industry, SaaS 

  • Certifications in CI (e.g., SCIP Competitive Intelligence Professional Certification).

  • Experience using AI tools.
