In both our product and our workplace, we’re intentional about making work more efficient, flexible, and fulfilling. Tremendous is a fully remote, high-documentation, low-meeting culture, which means more time for what matters in both your professional and personal life.

Our customers, including marketers, UX researchers, HR teams, and nonprofits, rave about how quick and easy it is to use Tremendous — check the ratings on G2. Yet there’s a lot of complexity under the hood, from managing 2,000+ redemption options to navigating intricate financial and compliance frameworks. This duality makes working here a rewarding challenge.

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Commercial Counsel to join our legal team. Your primary focus will be on contracts, supporting our growing business by managing and streamlining agreements with clients, partners, and vendors. Bonus points if you have experience in financial services, fintech, payments, enterprise SaaS agreements, or if you've worked with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) software.

This role will report to the Head of Legal and Compliance and is critical to ensuring smooth operations as we scale.

What you'll be doing

Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including client agreements, vendor contracts, and partner agreements.

  • Maintain and improve our contracts repository and related processes, leveraging CLM tools.

  • Support contract lifecycle processes to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.

Legal Support:

  • Provide guidance on legal and regulatory issues in financial services, fintech, and payments.

  • Assist with cross-functional initiatives, including risk assessments and process improvements.

  • Collaborate closely with sales, operations, and compliance teams to understand client needs and ensure contracts align with business objectives.

Process Optimization:

  • Develop and refine templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines to increase efficiency.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline contract-related workflows using CLM software and other tools.

Competencies

  • Minimum of 3+ years of legal experience, with a focus on contracts, ideally in-house or at a firm serving technology or financial services clients.

  • Background in fintech, payments, or financial services is a strong plus.

  • Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.

  • Familiarity with CLM software and an interest in improving processes through technology.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Clear, concise communicator who can explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.

  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.

  • Agile and flexible in adapting to new challenges, technologies, and regulatory environments.

Why work with us

  • Competitive compensation: The base salary for this role is $180,000–$220,000, with additional equity and benefits.

  • Remote-first culture: Work from wherever you want in the Americas.

  • Smart people and a great culture: Join a high-performing team that values documentation, autonomy, and balance. See our company handbook.

  • Growth opportunities: As a key member of the legal team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping processes and policies as we scale.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
