Our Opportunity:
Chewy is hiring a Associate Director, Category Management to support International Merchandising. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and focus on building a new business from the ground up through developing new business relationship, expanding selection and managing multiple new product launches on Chewy. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication, strong negotiations and vendor manager experience, the ability to analyze and communicate complex terms, margin structure and work well across other teams including Finance, Inventory Management, and Site Experience. In addition, The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to dive deep and root cause problems, develop solutions, implement actions, and report on results. Keys to success also include strong ownership values, a passion for innovation, and hustle. The location can be based out of Seattle or Florida or Boston.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead some of Chewy’s most important businesses categories
- Lead a team encompassing assortment, pricing, promotions, forecasting, budgeting, etc.
- Optimize the category for sales and profit growth
- Maximize existing business and in parallel launch new products
- Develop further the merchandising strategy as well as related programs and projects.
- Implement resulting action plans and ensure operational excellence and high delivery accuracy
- Build and implement, based on research and data insights, strategies and plans to both recruit new customers to Chewy and to develop existing customers via lifecycle management concepts
- Work cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, supply chain management, finance, tech, etc. to ensure close collaboration as well as holistic planning and execution
- Constantly audit, improve, invent, and WOW Chewy’s customers
- Manage vendor relationships critical to the vertical
What You’ll Need:
- 8-10+ years of holistic business experience in top ecommerce, retail, FMCG, or similar organizations
- Exceptional competencies in vendor management/merchandising, sales, marketing, and general management
- Very good understanding of finance, pricing, supply chain management, and operations
- Deep understanding of product & project management
- Very experienced with owning and growing large-size and complex businesses at high growth rate
- Demonstrated ability to launch and rapidly scale new business ventures
- Strong comprehensive business acumen and the willingness to move fast
- Excellent strategic and analytical skills
- Proven operator, skilled in go-to-market, and with focus on executing in excellence
- Superior sense of ownership paired with a high-quality bar and an unshakable growth mindset
- Strong leadership skills and experience developing and managing a high-performance team
- Superb communication skills combined with the ability to influence cross-functional partners
- Must be open to travel if needed
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

- Business and leadership experience in market-leading organizations; both in bigger organizations and a start-up businesses
Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Associate Director Category Management position is $149,000.00 - $245,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k, and a new hire and annual equity grant.
