You are a highly organized, forward-thinking problem solver. You will help manage the workflow to cover the events we are currently committed to, as well as bring your own vision to our future planning and execution of photography coverage. You are eager to support initiatives that promote Diversity & Inclusion and aren’t afraid to bring a diverse viewpoint to your work. You are very detail-oriented and able to balance many different projects at once, while also having great interpersonal skills to communicate with our team, both staff and freelance. You are a team player who works well with others and can be an ambassador for our company. Existing contacts within the sports media industry are a plus, whether it be with specific leagues, teams, or photographers. The preference for this role is to be based in NYC or LA to be a part of our offices there, however, other locations will be considered within the United States. Travel will not be a necessity in this role, but the opportunity will present itself to go on-site to events with our team.


Your Next Challenge:

The Sports Assignment Editor plans and executes our sports coverage across many different leagues and teams. You will be working directly with the Senior Manager of Assignments & Operations along with other assignment editors to continue delivering on our current commitments and growing our coverage, everything from a one-off single-day event to a multi-week event spanning multiple cities and venues. You’ll work closely with our staff of 30 photographers and our hundreds of freelance photographers and editors. You exhibit integrity and have a proven track record of maintaining a client-focused perspective, representing the company with your strong presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Plan and execute event coverage, start to finish. This includes planning, credential requests, event creation, photographer relations, and league/team relations.
  • Continue to build our photographer relationships, old and new.
  • Work to grow our coverage where possible.
  • Compile and provide analysis of data regarding coverage and usage.
  • Represent the company in your local market.
  • Apply strong communication skills both within our company and to external contacts.
  • Develop partnerships with various industry-related organizations and athletes.
  • Fosters relationships in a strong team environment internally and externally.
  • Participate in the mentorship of other team members and industry professionals.

What You'll Need:

  • The ability to stay organized.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Background in and well-established relationships within the industry working with and for different organizations including sports leagues, public relations, teams, and organizations.
  • A minimum of three of experience in the industry.

  • Ability to work weekends during events.
  • Possess superb people skills.
  • Equivalent undergrad degree or requisite experience.
  • The ability to travel, domestically and internationally, at times. This includes a valid passport.
  • Bring a perspective on underrepresented communities and strive to provide diverse content to broaden representation shown through visual arts.
