Ancillary Solutions Designer
Strategic Response Team (SRT)

MillerKnoll’s Strategic Response Team (SRT) is seeking an Ancillary Solutions Designer to join their team. Be a part of a group of talented designers focused on Ancillary – the fastest growing category in the furniture industry today. 

The SRT is MillerKnoll’s centralized design resource, uniquely positioned within the organization to support our dealers, our sales teams, and our internal organizations. We are a team who help MillerKnoll win the big projects and the little stuff too by being the best at designing and specifying MillerKnoll products. As an Ancillary Solutions Designer, you partner with MillerKnoll sellers to influence and drive ancillary sales through thoughtful design activities and deep product knowledge. The ideal candidate will be an innovative designer who is passionate about creatively solving problems and using ancillary furniture as their medium to create compelling design solutions.

LOCATION

This position will be based in one of MillerKnoll's major markets - Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta or Phoenix

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•    Actively partner with MillerKnoll sellers and dealers in team-based selling activities by creating and owning design strategies that drive ancillary business outcomes. 
•    Act as a subject matter expert regarding the ancillary products, offered as part MillerKnoll’s portfolio of brands, reinforcing our knowledge and expertise in design.
•    Select and position ancillary products to solve client needs, differentiate our offering, and build MillerKnoll brand preference and loyalty.
•    Develop design presentations and mood boards to effectively communicate ancillary design solutions and specific product recommendations.
•    Provide bid-ready specifications to ensure MillerKnoll sellers and dealer partners can easily share ancillary pricing with clients, when needed.
•    Deliver presentations and lead discussions to verbally communicate the design intent of proposed ancillary solutions to articulate how they meet the client’s goals/objectives.
•    Lead project calls with MillerKnoll sellers to provide recommendations on how the Ancillary Solutions Design team can best support the opportunity’s sales strategy. 
•    Build a relationship as a trusted advisor to MillerKnoll sellers and dealer partners to instill confidence in using the Ancillary Solutions Design team’s services.
•    Maintain current knowledge of interior design trends and products in the furniture industry related to ancillary settings and applications.  
•    Contribute to an infectious team culture in which we teach and learn from everyone we work with. 
•    Mentors other designers in Strategic Response team and throughout MillerKnoll, helping to elevate the overall design output and communication of MillerKnoll design.  
•    Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education + Experience 
•    Bachelor's Degree in in interior/architectural/facility design from an accredited program, or relevant academic discipline. 
•    5-7 years of experience in interior design, space planning, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. 
•    Commercial interior design, furniture applications, or equivalent skills and experiences (preferred).

Licenses + Certifications
•    NCIDQ preferred

Skills + Abilities
•    Demonstrates proficiency in AutoCad, Revit, CET or other current 3D software/design tools.
•    Has clear understanding of architectural drawings.
•    Proficient knowledge of Microsoft & Adobe product lines utilized for presentations.
•    Experience with CET (preferred)
•    Exhibits a work style that is assertive, with the self-confidence and ability to represent MillerKnoll in a professional manner.  
•    Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions for informal, collaborative and group settings/applications.
•    Must have strong project management and analytical skills, including coordinating deadlines, design responsibilities, and final deliverables.
•    Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to lead a meeting to help determine project needs and identify action items.
•    Must have excellent communication, presentation, writing and team collaboration skills.
•    Demonstrated deep knowledge of the contract furniture industry and workplace strategies.
•    Ability to be deadline-oriented and to work under pressure while tactfully dealing with stressful situations.
•    Ability to change priorities quickly and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Ability to successfully coordinate the efforts of internal and external resources. 
•    Exhibits ability to work and collaborate with others to develop enriched solutions.
•    Demonstrates ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external business partners.
•    Experience working in cross-functional team environments. 
•    Basic understanding of the furniture sales process, and how design and sales work together.
•    A willingness and ability to travel as needed – approximately 10% 
•    Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.

A starting compensation range for this role is $88,600.00 - $111,750.00. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards which are subject to the rules governing these programs. The company offers a full spectrum of benefits including Medical, Prescription Drug, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Dependent Day Care Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Vacation and Parental Leave), Holidays, 401(k), and Short/Long Term Disability, in addition to other special perks reserved for our associates.
