Role: Analytics Engineer Intern

Here is what you'll own in this role:
In this position, you will participate in Health Catalyst’s mission to be the catalyst for massive, measurable, data-informed healthcare improvement. This position places the participant on a path to combine deep analytics skills and a sound understanding of healthcare to inform a fundamental transformation of healthcare delivery as we know it today. The successful candidate will leverage SQL and Data Visualization tools to assist health systems in data-driven outcomes improvement.
Basic knowledge of SQL is a requirement for this position; and a SQL assessment must be passed before moving forward to a formal interview.
- Partnership: Work with your team to accomplish your assigned tasks and deliver value.
- Communication: Effectively and regularly communicate status, issues, and progress of assigned tasks; Ask questions.
- Learning: Gain an understanding of Health Catalyst culture, products, and methodologies; Grow your technical skills through practical application.
- Opportunity Identification: Identify improvement opportunities within the scope of assigned work.
- Improvement: Learn formal methods for process improvement and apply them to solve problems.
Here is what you bring to the role:
- Experience and comfort writing SQL code.
- Leverage HC software and technologies to perform varied analyses in support of client outcomes improvement initiatives across clinical, operational and financial domains.
- Design data models and visualizations that meet project requirements and comply with HC design standards and principles.
- Ensure assigned projects are executed efficiently and according to project requirements and timelines.
- Perform detailed data profiling and validation tests to ensure quality of measurement.
- Understanding of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes.
- Ability to communicate with and deliver analytics to technical, non-technical, and key stakeholders.
- Experience developing visualizations (using Qlik, PowerBI, and/or Tableau) that consume data models for non-technical users.
- Effective written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Desire and capability to learn new technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
- Attention to detail and organization for project documentation, maintaining clear and proactive communication regarding project progress, issues, and tasks.
- Comfortable working under general direction.
- Problem/puzzle solving.
- Willingness to ask questions.
- All other duties as assigned.
Information Security and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with training directives required by the organization pertaining to Information Security, Acceptable Use Policy and HIPAA Privacy and Security.
- Adhere to and comply with the organizations Acceptable Use Policy.
- Safeguard information system assets by identifying and reporting potential and actual security events to the organizations Security and Compliance Officers.
