We’re seeking freelance content professionals to support AI-assisted content workflows for select clients who’ve opted in. You’ll work closely with our internal editorial team using provided briefs and keyword guidelines to generate content from scratch using large language models (LLMs), shaping direction, structure, and tone throughout the process. A team of editors will review and polish content before delivery.

This is a great opportunity for experienced editors and writers who understand the value and limits of generative AI and who can bring both editorial finesse and sound judgment to a rapidly evolving process.

This is a freelance opportunity for someone based in the U.S. or Canada. Compensation is per-project, at a rate of .02–.04/word, depending on complexity and scope. Hours are flexible, but the ability to collaborate with team members working Monday through Friday during U.S. business hours (PST, MST, CST, or EST) is a plus.

What You'll Be Doing

Content Excellence

  • Collaborate with in-house and freelance editors to produce AI-assisted content projects for clients.
  • Use client briefs and keyword targets to prompt AI tools (like ChatGPT or Claude) and build structured, brand-aligned, and SEO-informed content from the ground up.
  • Plan and execute full content drafts using AI output as a foundation, ensuring coherence, originality, and alignment with editorial expectations.
  • Apply SEO best practices and client-specific guidelines to every deliverable.
  • Work across diverse industries and content formats, adapting to different brand voices.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven experience as a writer, editor, or content strategist (2–5+ years).
  • Deep familiarity with AI content tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) and how to prompt or refine outputs effectively.
  • Strong editing and rewriting skills; you can take a raw AI draft and make it sing.
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and how they inform content structure and keyword use.
  • Comfort juggling multiple brands and content types with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with AP Style and digital publishing standards.
  • Reliable, communicative, and responsive—especially in a remote, asynchronous environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with tools like Frase, Surfer, Clearscope, or SEMrush.
  • Prior agency or freelance experience across different client verticals.
  • Background in AI ethics, transparency, or content authenticity.

Why Work With Us

  • Flexible remote work with consistent freelance opportunities
  • Collaborative and supportive team of editors and content pros
  • Opportunity to help shape the future of ethical, effective AI-assisted content production
  • Gain hands-on experience with real-world AI content workflows — ideal for writers and content marketers looking to build advanced skills in generative content creation and editorial AI strategy.

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
