3D Motion Generalist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced 3D Motion Generalist to join our studio! We’re looking for someone at the top of their game with a strong blend of creative thinking, technical expertise, and a dedication to lifting our studio’s work to new heights. 

This role on our CG team requires a well-rounded ninja, agile in their modeling skills, versatile in their lighting techniques, and animation that's lethally smooth — with extra Zen points for someone who can bring them all together in a masterful composite. You will collaborate with Designers, Art Directors, Creative Leads, and the broader production studios to drive innovative 3D motion design and push WD’s creative forward using Cinema 4D and supporting tools. 

The ideal candidate has a strong body of creative work and thrives in a collaborative environment. Innovation is a team sport here! You need to have a hands-on approach and professional communication skills — capable of providing complex direction in simple terms to agency and client partners. You are process-driven, excited by exploring new techniques and not afraid to take on responsibility for challenging projects. You’re a good mix of rule-follower and explorer, following project guidelines while infusing your unique perspective. 

The ideal candidate will sit in Seattle, WA, but we are open to folks in Los Angeles, CA as well. 

• Concepting independently and collaboratively  
• Contributing to a wide range of projects with visual storytelling, 3D imagery, and motion design 
• Aligning to creative direction while applying a sophisticated design sense to every stage of the creative and production process  
• Creating required graphic elements from scripts and boards while upholding client and agency brand standards 
• Integrating 3D assets within motion, editorial, and experiential brand projects 
• Presenting to internal stakeholders as well as clients 
• Maintaining 3D pipeline and best practices 

• An idea driven designer, who draws from a wide range of disciplines and inspirational sources  
• A team player who thrives on collaboration 
• Has a curious nature and stays up to date with current design & technology trends 
• Calm and resourceful under pressure, with a knack for problem-solving on a deadline
• Have a keen eye for detail and rigorous quality control 

• Portfolio demonstrating mastery in both creativity and technical precision 
• At least 5+ years experience working in a professional, client-driven environment as a motion designer, creating broadcast-quality 3D and motion graphics for both standard and unusual screen sizes and shapes 
• Proficiency in Cinema4D and rendering with Redshift 
• Modeling skills, traditional and non-traditional with an understanding of topology and UV spaces 
• Lighting and rendering photo-real and stylized CG for advertising and digital projects 
• Ability to animate in 3D and 2D 
• Expert knowledge of After Effects and popular plug-ins as well as proficiency in the Adobe suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier), and Microsoft 365 
• Familiarity with current color management workflows and compositing multi-pass renders within After Effects 

Extra points for:

• Working knowledge of Houdini 
• Working knowledge of Unreal 
• Blender and Zbrush experience  
• PBR material authoring tools (Substance Designer/Painter)
