We have renewed focus on DE&I efforts with monthly themes, trainings, personal story sharing, and fireside chats to dive into challenging issues, learn and support each other. Our DE&I steering committee — New Engen-ers from across the organization - meet regularly to create initiatives, events, and activities that help foster an inclusive work environment. DE&I is ingrained in our business model: we practice fair pay equity when hiring and promoting within the company, give all employees a floating holiday to use for holidays not covered in traditional company holiday calendars, and host monthly learning sessions covering topics like invisible disabilities, unconscious bias and more. We include a set of DE&I questions in every single interview to assess genuine DE&I support — and have diversified recruitment efforts with a focus on BIPOC hires.
New Engen partners with local and national organizations for volunteering events and has a 1:1 donation match program up to $150 per employee. These initiatives are driven by employee interest, and employees vote on organizations to receive a large quarterly donation on behalf of the entire org. Most recently, we have made donations to organizations that support women’s rights to choose, marginalized communities, and reducing gun violence.
