In fact, studies show that up to 80% of car accident victims experience some form of whiplash, even in low-speed collisions. Whiplash: A Common but Misunderstood Injury Whiplash is a neck injury caused by a sudden, forceful back-and-forth movement of the head, similar to the cracking of a whip. While commonly associated with rear-end car collisions, it can also occur in other situations, including sports accidents and falls.
