Uplevel has been helping companies monitor the productivity of software engineers and prevent burnout since 2018. The Seattle-based company recently announced new funding with plans to create additional features for its platform to help other workers and businesses.
On Wednesday, Uplevel raised $20 million in venture funding led by Cota Capital. Other investors in this round include Norwest Venture Partners, Madrona Venture Group and Voyager Capital, among others.
Uplevel is a productivity tracking platform geared specifically toward software engineers. The platform pulls data from other software to generate a forecast on whether a given project will be completed on time. It also highlights areas of concern that need additional work in order to be completed on deadline.
For employees, Uplevel aims to prevent burnout. The platform gives a detailed view of the allocation of work distributed to engineers and can also show progress on their work. Uplevel also monitors when employees are pulled into meetings and whether or not those meetings are causing them to fall behind on their tasks. By tracking if workers are falling behind on their tasks, Uplevel hopes that its platform can incentivize managers to better distribute work so employees don’t have to work overtime.
“We imagine a world where developers have enough time during the day to focus on their work and solve tough problems. A world where they don’t have to work overtime to meet their goals, leaving them refreshed and ready for a productive day of work,” read an Uplevel press release announcing the latest funding round.
With the new funding, Uplevel is currently hiring for its development, customer success, marketing and other departments. It will also work on developing new features in order to make software engineers and development teams more efficient.
“Our goal is to become the system of record for developer processes — the place they can go to check on the complete status of their projects as well as team health and burnout risk. We’ve already made significant strides in this area, but we can now invest in more ways to help dev teams maintain velocity and predict delivery — without burning out,” read the statement.
Another way Uplevel has worked against employee burnout is by implementing a four-day work week within the company.
