Seattle-based Codified has raised $4 million in seed funding to develop its AI-powered data governance platform. The funding round was co-led by Madrona Ventures and Vine Ventures, with participation from Soma Capital and angel investors JG Chriapurath, Bob Muglia and Shireesh Thota. Codified aims to simplify the process of data governance by ensuring that the right people have access to the right data.
The platform uses natural language to author and implement data governance policies, eliminating the need for manual intervention. It also provides full visibility into data access rights for users, roles and groups.
Data security and privacy have become major concerns for companies as they increasingly rely on critical business data for insights and new product development. However, many data governance processes are still manually intensive and lack a policy compliance framework. Codified seeks to address these challenges with artificial intelligence. The platform enables companies to use natural language to set and implement data governance policies, ensuring that access to data is aligned with business intent.
The $4 million seed funding will enable Codified to expand its team, accelerate product development and bring its product to the market. The company plans to work with design partners and launch a product preview for select customers in 2024.
