Who says summertime is a slow season for job-hunting? At these Seattle companies, hiring is just heating up.

From downtown high-rises to suburban campuses — and plenty of remote home offices in between — businesses are on the lookout for fresh tech talent. Those in Washington have certainly come to the right place — the state has the highest concentration of technology workers in the country relative to its overall employment base. According to a recent report from IT industry nonprofit CompTIA, nearly a tenth of the workforce (9.4 percent) is in tech, a figure that includes both non-technical workers employed by tech companies and tech professionals who work in other industries.

Among the Seattle-area companies looking to add to this share? One of the biggest global names in entertainment, a sales procurement platform in hyper-growth mode, a gaming powerhouse and a startup disrupting the IoT and enterprise smart device industry.

Explore their benefits, hiring needs and recent news below.

What Warner Bros Discovery does: Warner Bros. Discovery is a global media and entertainment company. Its broad portfolio of brands spans television, film, sports, news, streaming and gaming and includes household names like HBO, CNN, HGTV and DC Comics.

Values first: Despite the wide scope of the company’s businesses, more than 37,000 of its employees operate under a shared set of guiding principles that shape their work: act as one team, create what’s next, dream it and own it, empower storytelling and champion inclusion.

Returning workers wanted: WBD partners with Path Forward, an organization dedicated to helping caregivers restart their careers, on six-month “returnships.” The program is open to professionals with at least five years of experience who are returning to the workforce after caregiving for one or more years, and currently, Warner Bros. Games is looking for a research ops supervisor to support its user research team. Responsibilities include “lab and tool maintenance, recruitment, communication and resources to maximize the effectiveness of the research team.”

Unity

What Unity does: Unity’s real-time 3D development platform is used across a vast array of industries, including gaming, film, architecture, engineering, construction and automotive manufacturing.

AI innovations: In June, the company announced the launch of two new AI platforms, Unity Sentis and Unity Muse, along with a marketplace of vetted AI solutions aimed at game developers and artists. “Unity’s Sentis and Muse will help automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows and generate high-quality output with remarkable speed and accuracy, without replacing human creativity and expertise,” said Marc Whitten, president of Unity’s Create division, in a release. “Our focus is to make these capabilities available, easy, and powerful on every device that creators want to target.”

Hiring now: Unity may be on the cutting edge of technology, but it isn’t just hiring for technical roles. Its current postings include openings for a senior sales account executive, a senior compensation partner and an SEO manager, among roles in engineering and customer success.

What Highspot does: Highspot is a sales enablement platform that provides sales teams with the capabilities they need to engage prospective customers with relevant content.

Kicking into high gear: In the last three years alone, the company’s revenue has surged 400 percent. It has expanded its operations around the globe, most recently with the opening of its India office, and has brought on new leadership to steer the business to further success. "We are charging toward a future where Highspot is woven into the very fabric of business, with delighted customers worldwide using our platform as a mission-critical component of their go-to-market strategy," said Highspot CEO Robert Wahbe said in a recent statement.

Engineering opportunities: With how fast the company is growing, it needs ample technical expertise on board for support. Currently, Highspot is hiring two senior backend engineers, a principal backend engineer and a director of engineering to help scale its platform.

Mason

What Mason does: Mason provides mobile infrastructure, including hardware, software and integrated services, to help businesses build and scale their custom smart devices.

Mission-driven tech: The company’s central goal is to “enable customers to build smart and sustainable products on behalf of humanity.” To support this, it encourages employees to act as the “stage crew” for customers, celebrate diversity and inclusion and take ownership of their work.

Notable benefits: Mason offers 16 weeks of paid parental leave; a flexible workplace with the option of remote, hybrid or in-office work; fully paid medical, dental and vision insurance premiums; and stipends for home office and commuter costs. Current openings include positions in finance, project management, sales and engineering.
