With a new gaming company securing funding, the Puget Sound region is proving why since the early 1980s it is the gaming capital of the U.S.

Today, the area is home to well-known developers like Bungie and Electronic Arts and has played a role in the development of Microsoft as a gaming entity. One newer developer hoping to leverage the region and make it big in the industry is One More Game, and it recently announced a new investment.

On Tuesday the studio announced that it closed a Series A funding round to the tune of $22 million. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and provides capital to continue development on its first game title Spellcraft

The studio was founded in 2019 by a group of developers who previously worked on titles such as Diablo and the Warcraft series.

In a statement, One More Game announced that its debut game Spellcraft will be an online competitive strategy game and will “birth a new game genre.”

“It’s an energizing opportunity to build a game — and a studio — from the ground up, bringing all of the lessons we’ve learned and the convictions we’ve come to hold over our many shared years creating games,” Patrick Wyatt, co-founder and CEO of One More Game, said in a statement. “We’re heartened to have such a distinguished and supportive team of investors who have put their faith in our team, the potential of Spellcraft, and our vision for future titles.”

When the studio started working on Spellcraft, it came up with a new method to develop the game that it calls “Alpha-Driven Development.” The method involves getting a non-polished version of the game to beta testers as fast as possible and continuing to work on features and network optimization while beta testing is underway.

Prior to the Series A round, One More Game raised $5.7 million in a seed round back in 2019.

The studio was founded in Seattle but has transitioned to a fully remote company and does not plan on going back to a physical office, according to the company’s website.
