Job Summary 

Seeking an analytical and detail-oriented manager to lead our Portfolio Management team. This crucial role involves overseeing and executing trade booking, transactions, and operations for our business unit. This leader ensures compliance with regulatory deadlines, interprets complex data to make informed decisions,and mentors a team to achieve revenue goals. The ideal candidate has a keen interest in Renewable Energy Credit and Low Carbon Fuel Standard markets. Transaction Execution and Management

  • Ensure all elements of daily transaction execution requirements are efficient, facilitated, and completed
  • Apply expertise, knowledge, and judgment on which commodity products (Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), Low Carbon Fuel Credits (LCFS) to prioritize for transaction 
  • Facilitate spot and over-the-counter transactions
  • Maintain and develop relationships with over-the-counter market participants including brokers, traders, load serving entities, utilities, and others as needed. Support other institutional clients as needed.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and respond to request for proposals (RFPs) from utilities and other market participants for the purchase or sale of environmental commodities
  • Leverage existing resources and tools to track daily pricing dynamics across the group’s covered portfolio of environmental commodities. Ensure that credit transactions are executed at commercially reasonable prices to deliver appropriate value to end customers.
  • Lead efforts on environmental commodity procurement/sales/retirement needs as it relates to Low Carbon Fuel Standard markets, voluntary markets 
  • Work with market teams and counterparties to arrange commercially appropriate forward contracts for aggregation customers. 
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. 

Liaise with others across the organization

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and provide feedback
  • Work with accounting and financial operations teams to ensure success with regards to monthly financial & accounting close, weekly payment processing, and supporting the success of portfolio management and managed solutions’ clients 
  • Liaise with product management and product development teams to ensure technology solutions are assisting in delivering and executing our service offering.
  • Provide input and data to help evaluate time and cost savings and potential return on investment in product feature enhancements 
  • Provide support and inputs to the financial planning and analysis team to enable annual budgeting processes. Provide on-going support to FP&A team to assist with monthly / quarterly budget to actuals analysis on transaction execution details including volume, revenue, and $/credit take rates 

Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Cash flow planning for REC procurement 
  • Oversee and/or maintain reports associated with transaction activities including, but not limited to, monthly exchange transaction reports and budget to actual comparisons for commodity transactions 
  • Oversee the set-up and maintenance of new registry and exchange accounts if / as needed 
  • Provide monthly cash reconciliation and guidance to corporate accounting
  • Ensure transaction bookings are pushed to the accounting records and transactions are reconciling to the accounting records as anticipated 
  • Maintain insight into outstanding payments from buyers and work with financial operations to ensure timeliness of payments 
  • Continuously evaluate areas for improvement, reduction, and change to help become more efficient and reduce costs 

Management

  • Lead a high performing team while fostering a strong company culture
  • Manage, develop, and grow the portfolio management team

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years’ relevant experience 
  • 2-3 years of experience in energy commodity markets as a trader, portfolio manager, or related position
  • 2-3 years’ experience managing teams 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel) 
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy 
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Ambitious and proactive, with a can-do attitude 
  • A degree in finance, business, engineering, or related field is preferred

We're currently working with a hybrid workplace model and recently secured a beautiful new office space in Belltown. Some employees feel comfortable going in a few times per week.
