The Senior Sales and Demand Planner leverages analytical tools and strong product knowledge, customer relationships and business judgment to conduct retail Point of Sale (POS) analysis and create, refine Sales and Demand forecasts for core and promotional products to ensure that demand plans marry up with company and customer financial and service level objectives.
The Senior Sales and Demand Planner validates demand signals through data analytics, using historical data, statistical models and sales and marketing plans as key inputs. He or she develops, implements, and improves a daily, weekly, and monthly repeatable work cadence that is integrated with the customer's planning cadence. The Sr. Sales and demand planner is directly responsible for ensuring processes are in place to improve forecast accuracy and other key performance indicators. He or she models communication clarity, collaboration, continuous improvement, and a bias toward action and results
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ORGANIZATION
Specifically, the Senior Demand Planner has the following responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality bottom-up financial POS unit and dollar forecasts for the category of 800+ skus for 2 business units on a quarterly basis, which include documenting assumptions, presenting to internal and external partners and explaining the puts and takes of the forecast.
  • Actualize and re-forecast financial working forecast on a weekly basis if needed, documenting any major changes.
  • Incorporate new Markdown/Markdown decisions into the financial working forecast.
  • Reflect phase-outs and new product introductions in the financial working forecast.
  • Work cross functionally across, multiple departments to collect information on promotions, sales/marketing initiatives, category growth, penetration initiatives, market data, and price fluctuations to improve model and make better educated assumptions.
  • Conduct POS analytics, mining for trends and insights that inform assortment planning and sales and financial forecasts
  • Share and solicit best practices with/ from other company divisions


Demand planning work:

  • Produce accurate and timely demand forecasts by business unit, SKU and distribution center, informed by shipment history, POS analytics, assortment plans and market trends that support financial and service level targets
  • Communicate the recommended demand plan, underlying assumptions and basis for forecast modeling, upside and downside risk factors, and ultimate recommendation on build communications and investments
  • Work with big data, including preparing cleaning data for statistical modeling
  • Perform both category and product segmentation analysis to determine appropriate focus areas
  • Build new statistical predictive demand forecasting models to accurately predict trends and volume, and update and validate models with the latest internal and external data to continually improve accuracy.
  • Develop, report, manage and improve planning-related key performance indicators, including WMAPE, forecast bias, sell-thru, SKU productivity, and inventory turns and obsolescence
  • Monitor SKU level purchases and sales to be able to recommend inventory optimization and product rationalization initiatives in the future.
  • Liaise with sales and supply planners to ensure demand and supply from factories through distribution centers to retail stores and customers are synchronized
  • Responsible for leading the monthly demand review process as part of the S&OP monthly cycle


Ad-hoc support work:

  • This role may be asked support in ad-hoc analyses in support of the category management service to our client.
  • May be assigned to ad-hoc continuous improvement projects with other regions outside of North America.


The right person will bring and add:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; communicating effectively and projecting a professional image when giving and receiving information in writing and orally
  • Intermediate skills with Logility, o9, or other demand planning applications and advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all organization levels
  • Deals well with ambiguity, maintaining composure, discretion and high first-time quality under timeline pressure or when faced of sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Takes initiative and prioritizes tasks, demonstrating excellent time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills
  • Adeptly melds data and intuition when developing and presenting solutions and plans; possesses strong analytical ability with active listening skills
  • Biases toward processes, metrics, and continuous improvement; inquisitive, with a passion for learning and growing
  • Embraces diversity of cultures in organizations and functions well as a highly matrixed organizational structure
  • High attention to detail


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in math, business, statistics, supply chain management or other related quantitative disciplines
  • 5+ years sales and demand forecasting and POS analytics experience for consumer products companies, leveraging world class demand planning applications and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience managing, building, and validating predictive data models from scratch and mining data for trends and insights
  • Hands-on-experience, moving fluidly from long-term strategy to day-to-day tactical implementation


Salary Range: $44-60 hourly

The base pay range for this position is for a successful candidate within the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on multiple factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience. tms is a total rewards company, which includes rewards beyond base salary.
