Commodity Manager - Memory & CPU
Role Description
Dropbox is seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager to join the foundations of our rapidly growing Hybrid Infrastructure team. This person will be responsible for sourcing the network services needed to deliver the cloud infrastructure that will enable Dropbox to scale beyond our current 1 billion files/day stored by 700M+ users. This role will work with key network carriers to ensure that Dropbox has the network capacity it needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop commodity technology roadmaps that align business requirements with industry and supplier capabilities
- Maintain knowledge of market trends including market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape
- Develop and execute commodity strategies for, but not limited to, SSD, DRAM, CPU
- Work closely with Engineering to influence technical design decisions to meet business objectives
- Lead the supplier selection process, price negotiations and contract negotiations
- Manage all aspects of new supplier on-boarding and ramp up
- Interface with Planning to assess current and future demand requirements
- Ensure continuity of supply from ramp to EOL
- Drive supplier performance improvement through executive and/or quarterly business reviews
- Develop and sustain supplier relationships at the executive and management levels
- Work with OEM and ODM partners to ensure execution of commodity strategies
Requirements
- BA/BS in supply chain or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant experience
- At least 5 years of server commodity procurement or supply chain management experience at a major manufacturing or technology company
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes
- Must be able to prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
- Extensive knowledge and experience in purchasing field is essential
- Ability to direct contract negotiations and RFx process
- Strength in negotiations, cost/price analysis and purchasing procedures is also essential
Total Rewards
For candidates hired in Colorado, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is $136,000 - $160,000 - $184,000.
This salary/OTE range represents the low, middle, and high end of the salary or OTE (Sales roles) range for this position, and is subject to change. To determine a Dropboxer’s starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. This position may be considered a promotional opportunity.
Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
